37ºC
Taking body temperature as a love metaphor.
This is Jo's 3rd choreography from her Singular Series which has started in USA in 2009 exploring Existence as a single individual.
37ºC takes body temperature as a metaphor and investigate how an individual can shift from a normal to abnormal state of mind due to the loss of a relationship. According to this idea, Jo designed a set of formula.
If: 1 person = 37°C = Normal
Formula One:
[ 1 person ] + [ 1 person ] = [ 37ºC ] + [ 37ºC ] > Normal = Abnormal
[ 1+1 ] person(s) = [ 37+37 ] ºC > Normal = Abnormal
Based on Formula One, I calculated Formula Two:
[ 1+1 ] person(s) - [ 1 ] person = [ 37+37 ] ºC - 37°C = Back to Normal
[ 1 ] person = 37°C = Back to Normal
The piece has also experimented having 4 dancers' body in expressing an individual's abnormal emotional shift between moments.
Commissioned by Hong Kong Leisure Cultural Services Department 2015 in the New Force In Motion Series. Performed at Jockey Club Creative Arts Center in February 2015.
